Our desire is to have a spirit filled, multi-cultural, relational, evangelistic church that meets the needs of the urban resident. Statistics show us that church planting is the best form of reaching the lost. Not building buildings...mind you, but having a new, thriving, passionate work that equips, excites, and endorses believers to go and be salt and light in their world.
What we have found from speaking to non-church going types has helped form our mission. In a nutshell, here are a few things that we address and will be working on in order to change how church is done.
1. Church is not important. Many believe in God, they just do not see the need for church. It is because we have been answering questions that no one is asking.
2.No one cares. Who wants to go to a church that builds no friendships or social network or community?
3. Too may rules! Yes, there are guidelines to live by in the Word. But we need to teach biblical holiness, not cultural preferences.
4. The Pastor is un-approachable. Pastors are not super heros. They are human. If you cannot be real, you cannot heal!
5. Most "Christians" do not know what they are talking about. Look....it is okay for someone to say "I don't know". Stop blowing theological smoke! This is a journey, and we do not know all the answers. Only God does. We need to continue to study, and learn.
6. "Christans" do not live what they say they live. Christianity is a seven day a week job. You cannot club on Saturday, and go to church on Sunday thinking everything is okay! Live Different! Show the world a higher calling.
Relationships and Community
Our key component, relational ministry, happens within the context of our homes and communities. If the only time you see someone is at church once a week, you will never have true friendship or community.
Worship and freedom
It has been said that the highest form of worship is obedience. Obedience to God brings freedom. There is also power and healing in worshipping God through praise and worship. Music opens our hearts to God's Word.
Evangelism
We beleive a church who is not out-wardly focused in no more than a country club. We will continue to reach out to the lost of this world at all cost by all means.
World vision
God loves missions. He loves people...every nation.... "panta te ethne'" ....every ethnic group, tribe and country. The Sudaneese, Korean, Aussie, Russian, Kurd and American, they are precious in His sight. We will sow financial seed, as well as be personally involved in missions and humanitarian effort.
Discipleship and mentoring
Ongoing growth and training for individuals and families.
Remaining active in the world's systems ( commerce, politics, society, environment, etc.)
For too long we have isolated ourselves and have not taken an interest or stand against the corruption and destruction of the world. We are called to be salt and light in a dark world but decided that we would close the door and sit on a shelf with the other spices. It is okay to be a vocal unashamed Christian in the workplace. It is crucial that we involve ourselves in political and social affairs, lest we have no representation. We must be at the forefront to help those in need and teaching them how not to be in need again. The envorinment is our issue. God gave us a mandate to oversee the planet. You do not have to be a radical "tree hugger" to make a difference.
Excellence
An honest attempt to do the best we possibly can with what we have in order to represent God in the best light.
To establish Worship, Growth, and Community in our local fellowship by building self acceptance, relationships and sense of purpose in everyone we come in contact with. Our motto is... Live life for Jesus...take someone with you on the journey.
