The Lift Nashville Church

While we are not yet through with the website, we do uphold some doctrinal beliefs. If you wish to review some of those beliefs, please go to www.ag.org  You will get a basic idea of who we are beyond what we have written below. Thank you for your efforts.

Creation

The belief that God created the heavens and the earth.
Genesis 1

God

There is only one God. He has no beginning or end. He cannot be "figured out" other than to see a glimpse of His nature and plan through the Word of God.
Deuteronomy 6:4    Isaiah 43:10   Matthew 28:19    Luke 3:22

The Bible

God breathed and inspired. Infallable and unchangeable. It is our goal to look at God's Word as an original text through Hebraic eyes. Learning is a life long pursuit.
2 Timothy 3:15    1 Thessalonians 2:13     2 Peter 1:21

Salvation

Salvation is for everyone who receives it and is only found through the blood of Jesus and His death, burial, and ressurection from the dead. Not Mary, not a Pope, Bishop, Priest, Pastor, or Imam. Just Grace and Mercy through faith in Jesus. Not everyone will be saved, but this will be because of individual choice.
Luke 24:47     John 3:3     Ephesians 2:8

Jesus

Fully man. Fully God. No beginning, no end. Alive and seated at the right hand of the Father making intercession for us.
Matthew 1:23     Hebrews 7:26      1 Corinthians 15:3     Philipians 2:9

Miracles

God still performs miracles. Divine healings, protection, etc.
Matthew 8:16    John 5:14

The Holy Spirit and Speaking in Tongues

There is being filled with the Spirit...which happens at salvation. There is also being baptized In the Spirit with the evidence of that infilling through "speaking in an unknown language" or "tongues"  Christ foretold this would happen and the reason behind such a gift.  Firstly to comfort us, next to empower us to be effective witnesses, and lastly, to be a sign to the world. This is a gift to all believers, but not a requirement of salvation as has been falsely taught in times past.
Luke 24:47     Acts 1:4     1 Corinthians 12:1-3

Water Baptism

A command of Jesus that needs to be performed when someone accepts His message.
 Matthew 28:19     Acts 10:47     Romans 6:4

Communion

As often as you do this....remember me. Not the actual body and blood of Jesus, but rather a powerful reminder of His sacrifice, and an ordinance of the Church.
Matthew 26:26

The Second coming of Christ

He will come again to take His bride the church.
Revelation 22:12

Heaven and Hell

Only two choices. Not Heaven, Hell or Hardees.
Matthew 10:28     Mark 11:26

Angels and Demons

Not to be worshipped, nor feared. Real and powerful nonetheless.
Matthew 16:27      Matthew 25:41

Equality in Christ

No greek, nor slave, nor free, nor jew, nor gentile. All are created as unique creatures...sons and daughters of God. There is no master race: Only the Master of this race. God accepts all cultures and ethnicities. He's neither black nor white, nor purple. He is God.
Galatians 3:28

The Church

God's Bride. It needs to be holy, diverse, and meet regularly. It goes beyond theology and doctrine....beyond color, race, economic status, or even denominations. It is the heartbeat of God. We all need to be a part of a local community of faith  in order to grow, and to be like Christ.
Ephesians 2:22
